On The Sulliban Front…

At about 2am last night I found the Nine West Sulliban shoes on the US site on sale!! How ridiculous! So in a fit of obsession I sent some money to my friend in the US via Paypal and told her to buy them for me. I also got her to buy me the Dattilio sandals except in the time it took for her to get my money and email, they sold out of my size. We decided to get the half size bigger because I really love the shoes, so I hope they fit.

Nine West Dattilio Sandals

Altogether for both pairs of shoes, shipping to her house, shipping to MY house, and extraneous fees/currency conversions I expect to pay about $100 for each pair - a lot cheaper than $160 a pair, although technically monsterously more expensive than the $60US/$30US they’re advertised for. Still whatever literally costs less for me is a bargain. And I am absolutely stoked, especially about the Dattilio Sandal because I’ve been after a pair of bright, colourful shoes for months. These really fit the bill in my signiture black/red/grey combo, too! If they’re a bit too big I’ll pop a small innersole in or something.

Of course this is all well and good except for the fact I still have nothing to wear on Saturday. HAH! Meeting a friend for coffee tomorrow I might end up popping into some local stores and seeing if I can find anything last minute.

OH EM GEE

My ASOS skirt came today (!!!)

I absolutely flipped out when Mum called me to tell me she found the parcel shoved in the letter box, I guess I’d kind of given up on it!

The fabric is heavier than I expected, and as a result the skirt is VERY a-lined. I might have it altered, I don’t know if I really like the bouffantiness, at least not for long term, even if it is kind of fashionable right now. It makes my hips feel enormous. Other than that though, it’s exactly as I imagined. The quality is much nicer than I expected from ASOS, too. Love.

I also found my little camera! It had fallen and bounced underneath my bed - d’oh! So pictures tomorrow, I PROMISE! xx

Edward Scissorhands - The Ballet

So I went with my favourite fashionista this evening to see Edward Scissorhands - The Ballet. Except it wasn’t a traditional ballet. I really enjoyed it!!

Cotton On Cardigan & Singlet - Yoanna Baraschki Lace Skirt - Target Tights - Wittner Shoes - Vintage Necklace

Hooray for finally pulling out my Yoanna Baraschki skirt! It’s so beautiful that I’m kind of scared of it. The necklace was my Great Aunt’s. It has three strands but I thought it was too much so I craftily removed the third strand and put it back on when I got home! I’ve worn the Wittner pumps obsessively these last few days - definitely got my $40 out of those lovelies! They’re just so comfortable.

My third ASOS skirt should arrive this week. If it doesn’t I am going to hit the roof. My black flutter skirt came from Etsy the other day. It’s a little big but I think it will be fine.

Saturday Night

Apologies again for the terrible photo quality, they were taken at about 2am so the lighting was less than ideal. Tonight we went to a club I’d never been to before - I hate clubs normally I’m definately more of a bar or pub type of girl. I checked out the club’s website last night and was distressed to see dozens of photos of buxom barbie-blondes with unnatural tans and tiny clothes. (Not that there’s anything explicitly wrong with that but it’s totally not my style). What was I going to wear?!

Agent 99 TShirt - Op Shop Skirt - Target Tights - Wittner Shoes - Vintage Bag

I sauntered down to my favourite op shop this afternoon and ended up buying two skirts - a lace black pencil skirt and the one I ultimately ended up wearing. I fell in instant-love with both of them, but when I got home I felt like I may have been hasty with the lace pencil skirt because it doesn’t fit me as well as I remembered in the fitting room. But I’m so happy with the floral skirt purchase! It’s a wrap skirt, two layers of chiffonesque fabric that kind of flips out at the bottom, it’s really flattering, even more so when I don’t have an oversized t-shirt bulging out underneath! I go to that op shop so often and find nothing so I was pleased I found this at the last minute.

Needless to say it certainly was more conservative an outfit than the majority at this particular club, but I felt comfortable. I also think the skirt will be great in summer. I also bought these two items off Etsy in the last few days:

Black Flutter Skirt
This skirt is so pretty I love how the seller has really casualised it with the white t-shirt.

Maroon Tank Dress
I don’t expect this to fit very well the way it is designed but it should look great cinched with a belt!

Oh, did I mention I got a haircut? We removed about 3 inches of damaged hair, which I feel happy about although I miss the length greatly. No more constant blowdrying anymore!! Also, I’ve changed my links to specify which of my favourite blogs are run by voguettes! Hullo my lovely voguettes!

Good Luck, Bad Luck

Nothing today was getting me out of bed at 7am, even though I had class at 9am. The alarm went off, and I somehow managed to get through almost 20mins of the ridiculously annoying Matt and Jo show before I got so angry I turned the alarm off and went back to sleep.

I pushed myself out of bed at 9.30am and had a microshower. When I got out I heard my phone beep and when I checked the message it was a fellow classmate informing me that class had been cancelled for the day! What good luck for me!

Since I’ve been very clever and have been working consistantly on my assignment that is half due on Friday, I don’t have any work I need to do today so I am taking myself shopping. Can I afford it? No. Do I care? No.

In online shopping news, the bad luck continues with Topshop and ASOS. Can you believe this? ASOS posted out another skirt on the 26/06 and it still hasn’t arrived yet. I don’t think I’m ever going to get it!! As for Topshop, they received the clothes I sent back but only confirmed refunds for two of the three items?! What?? They want me to scan my proof of postage for them, I don’t know why, it’s obvious they got my parcel! I better get a refund for that third item!!

Dotti Blazer - Etsy Dress - Forever New Tights - Dorothy Perkins Flats - Sportsgirl Earrings & Ring - Mimco Brooch

Sometime later…
Very obsessed with my Dotti Blazer… it just works back with so much! I picked up a gorgeous vintage inspired polka dot blouse at K-Mart of all places for $20 and a nice longline sleeveless cardi from Cotton On for $20. Bargain. I also got the latest issue of RUSSH. ♥

The Bad Times

Talk about the bad times!

The last 48 hours for me have been a nightmare. Between minor issues (like the fact that my Topshop order arrived and three out of the four items didn’t fit, a pair of socks I bought had a hole in them, the dress I was having tailored wasn’t done properly…), and major issues (like the business name I have registered, been trading with and reserving for the last year that I was planning to use for my retail store has been trademarked right under my nose) I am feeling very deflated and heartbroken.

Fighting the people who stole my name and logo is an option but requires money and time, not to mention the emotional strength I simply know I don’t have for such a potentially long, drawn out battle.

Not a very creative outfit today, but I made sure to wear the one Topshop item that did fit.

Op Shop Coat - TopShop Tee - Forever New Pants - Dorothy Perkins Flats

The major drama of losing the business name to a trademark is that I have spent over $500 on registration fees and marketing tools which are now useless. On top of this, I have to think of a new business name as part of the requirements for my course AND I need to register it all ASAP. I could have bought a pair of Louboutins for that money!

On the bright(er) side, today was my first day driving without my P plates! Yes I am 23. Go team .05 BAC!

Another Online Shopping Debarcle

Wow it just isn’t my good luck for online shopping anymore! I have officially put myself on a ban until further notice as nothing seems to be going my way.

The latest debarcle is the navy blue polka dotted dress I ordered a few days ago. Lightening fast shipping - but the seller misrepresented the size in the listing and it is simply enormous! It is such a cute dress so naturally I am devestated. I will probably end up trying to resell it! (If anyone wants a gorgeous navy blue polka dotted dress in about a size 12-14AU leave me a comment!)

Boooo!

Limbo

So I feel like I’m floating around in fashion limbo right now.

My beautiful ASOS skirt never arrived (it’s been a month since I ordered it) and I’m waiting for them to get back to me with more information. My Topshop order hasn’t been shipped out yet (it’s been over a week since I ordered it) although they have charged my card. Is there something funny going on in the UK? Other online orders I’m waiting on are some books from Amazon (expected delivery date is a whole month from date of shipment?!) and my new polka dotted dress from Etsy (which I only bought a few days ago).

Online shopping sure is fun but when your parcels don’t arrive on time (or ever) it’s very disheartening!

I have run out of coathangers! A few years ago I bought 45 wooden coathangers (not including skirt/pants hangers) when I was changing from metal - and I have run out in a serious way! I will pick some more up in the next few days but I’m starting to get very concerned over where I will actually put them because I have no room in my cupboard as it is. I don’t really want to get rid of anything, either. There are a few pieces I don’t wear but I do want to keep them. I’m scared if I pull them out of the cupboard and put them into ’storage’ I’ll forget about them. Out of sight out of mind, right?

Lastly, I am feeling very silly over the amount of bright coral coloured tops sneaking their way into my wardrobe. I just bought my fourth, and there is a mere 1 or 2 shade difference between it and the others I already have! Oh well, I guess they match my hair…!

Happy Friday the 13th!

I didn’t end up wearing a dress this week because I couldn’t bring myself to face the weather - even in wool blend tights! This outfit took me from school all day through to the movies tonight with Boyfriend.

Cotton On Cardi and Scarf - Bonds L/Sleeve Tee - Jeans West Velour Pants - Dorothy Perkins Flats - Mimco Tote and Headband - Selfmade / Sportsgirl Necklaces

I usually forget to include my bag in the pictures I take - this is my school bag that I coveted for months before I had an excuse to buy it… then when I finally got into the course the bag was on sale at the Mimco outlet store in Bridge Rd, Richmond. Yippee! I love the stud detailing on it, gives it a little pop while still being fairly simple.

Last night I bought another dress from Etsy. I can’t control myself - I need tops, not dresses! But this was so cute and inexpensive that I couldn’t resist!

I know my outfits are never very inventive or interesting, I still struggle being artistic when choosing my clothing and that is something I am trying to explore through this blog project. I hope you’ll stick with me while I nut it out!

Great Conversions

Last night we attended a surprise mini-party for my step-sister’s 26th birthday. The surprise went through well even though two people almost ruined it.

Cotton On Cardigan - Target Dress - Portmans Belt - Target Tights - RMK Shoes - Dad’s Bow Tie

Photos taken in natural light are so much clearer than the ones I take indoors! Unfortunately that is my front yard and I get a bit embarrassed when people walk past - as they do, I live on a very busy street!

The party was a lot of fun, I was a little over dressed but I didn’t care. I’ve been wearing Dad’s old bow tie as a hair accessory since I was about 14. It’s the perfect size and because it’s a clip on, it clips into my hair perfectly. Mum says it’s the tie Dad wore when they got married so it’s extra special to me (even though they’re divorced) !

Thanks to America’s dwindling economy, our dollar is stronger than ever in international markets. This is especially handy when you’re an online shopping addict. $2AUD now buys £1GBP (a year ago it cost us $2.50), so naturally I just placed an order at Topshop.

With a £10 flat-fee shipping cost it was really advantageous to buy several items in one order. I wanted the mauve frill top desperately, I’d been eyeing it out on the Topshop site for over a week. The contour tee reminds me of lingerie, I think it will look adorable tucked into a high waisted skirt. The other two items were more impulse purchases. Luckily I was able to use an NUS student code to get 10% off my total order which basically gave me the shipping free. I feel so naughty, I’ve spent way too much money lately!

On Tuesday I’ll be starting a 2 month full time TAFE course which will give me less time to shop online and more occasions to actually wear the clothes I’ve been buying. How exciting!
