Where Did All The Good (Cheap) Shoes Go?

It’s my favourite fashionista’s birthday party this weekend and I have NOTHING TO WEAR! I went shopping with my mother today and I decided what I want is some fabulous new shoes to wear with something plain. We walked for hours and I eventually found my shoes. At Nine West.

Nine West Sulliban Gladiator Sandal $159

I have been drooling over them for about a month from outside the shop window, but today I finally tried them on. They were heaven for my eyes! Not the balls of my feet - they were HARD to walk on. And NOT my bank account. At $159 for leather upper and non-leather lining, I just could not justify purchasing them at a time when I am SO outrageously poor.

I just find it appalling that these days it costs around $80 for non-designer synthetic shoes and $150 for leather upper / synthetic lining.  Am I just being cheap? The only store I know of that even stocks leather upper / leather lined shoes anymore for under $150 is Wittner. And I LOVE Wittner… but every single fashionable design in their range comes with a 2.5cm platform! No thanks!!

The darling sales assistant at Nine West was so lovely, and spent ages with me while I fussed over the shoes. I got them put aside and felt super-guilty for knowing I wasn’t going to come back and buy them. I just can’t afford $159 on shoes right now. Let alone synthetic lined shoes. But I will dream about them tonight.

Meanwhile, I still have NOTHING to wear this weekend…

Circus

Firstly I’d just like to address the “Anonymous Comments” issue. I’ve been receiving an awful lot of anonymous comments recently - most of them haven’t been absuive or anything, just normal comments. However, for the sake of keeping everything friendly and pleasant please pop your name and e-mail address down with your comment! I won’t accept anonymous comments so there’s no point in leaving them!

Now that that is out of the way…

I spent the weekend in a hot mess so when I went out I ended up repeating outfits I’ve worn before because they were tried and successful! Friday night was a mexican fiesta with some friends from my business course to celebrate the fact that we’d all passed! I wore the same outfit that I wore to see Wicked The Musical, except I substituted red lipstick for red eyeshadow.

Then Saturday night was a casual affair with Boyfriend and another close friend to see Pineapple Express. Absolutely hilarious! I just love Judd Apatow movies, they have a stinging edge of reality to them while still being entertaingly off the wall. I repeated the outfit I wore to the VIP sale event at my local shopping centre.

I was so glad I had started this blog, for just these reasons! When I was stuck in a hurry it was great to be able to go back through my outfits and choose something I know I looked good in and felt comfortable in.

I had a credit note at the Freez online store since last year when I rather hastily and excitedly bought a dress without checking the size. I finally spent it today on this cute Mink Pink skirt. Love the bow detail on the waist - which is detachable. Hoping it will look cute with the new white blouses I ordered from ASOS!

Lastly… a couple of commenters have asked about my business so I just wanted to clarify that at this stage it is an online boutique, not a real shop, although it is my dream to have a real shop and hopefully that will happen in 2011/2012. I’d love to do it even sooner but I have to be sensible with our current economical situation and all! I am hoping to launch it in September so I will definitely keep you “posted” (heheehoho what a clever joke!) about that without making a circus of it.

Bloom

I felt so much better after I washed and dried my hair last night! It’s funny how simply freshening up my hair colour put me in a better mood!

Today I had an appointment at a showroom to see that supplier’s latest collection and buy for my business. I think it’s obvious to anyone who filled out my survey that my business revolves around jewellery and handbags. I don’t want to say too much without being at risk by a particular website I frequent for advertising, and that’s not really what this blog is for. But I am happy to say the pieces I have chosen in the last two weeks for my business are absolutely gorgeous. I am sticking with a very nuteral palate across all suppliers of classic black, vintage tan, and nude tones such as cream, bone and grey. It’s very exciting.

Dotti Blazer - Witchery Cropped Cardigan - Miss Shop Dress - Target Tights - RMK Heels

The dress actually has long sleeves but it was so cold I had to wear a cardigan AND a jacket. I don’t normally wear much pink but I couldn’t resist buying it. I am such a sucker for anything spring. The dress really needs a belt, though.

ASOS Belt

My mother is in the UK at the moment, surely they wouldn’t fudge the shipping on this…

All Bound Up

I’ve been feeling very on-edge and agitated lately. Not stressed; but anxious. About what? Everything, of course! My skin is getting worse even though I am being stricter with my cleansing routine, my hair has been a birdsnest, I had to do something to make myself feel better so I’m currently sitting in bed with red fudge on my streaks to brighten them up. Yes it’s 11.30pm! I guess I just needed to do something spontaneous without doing something drastic.

On top of all of this I’m finding myself increasingly more taken by these fascinating harness type contraptions built-and-styled by the stunning Queen Michelle at Kindgom Of Style. Why is this making me anxious? Because I can’t buy them anywhere and I don’t think I would do a very good job making one. I especially love the simplicity of the one on the left.

Which brings me to the fabulous caged skirts that the fabulous Susie Bubble at Style Bubble has turned me on to. Now I can actually buy one of these, her original custom made skirt was so popular the designer made them part of her inventory! What genius! So why is this making me anxious? Because if I did fork out the $70 to buy one I’m not really convinced I’d wear it very well.

It’s all a little bondage-glam, isn’t it? Between these and the scarily gorgeous S&M inspired heeld we’re seeing this season and the copious amounts of leather designers are throwing at us, it makes me wonder if I was on the right (or very wrong) track with the buckled boots I ended up getting. I can’t decide how I feel about them.

On one hand, I think they’d fit right in with a chest harness and cage skirt. On the other… I feel like they’re a bizarre marriage between a bikerboot and a gumboot. I have ’til Thursday to decide. Just another thing to feel anxious about, I suppose.

Time to wash the dye out!

OH EM GEE

My ASOS skirt came today (!!!)

I absolutely flipped out when Mum called me to tell me she found the parcel shoved in the letter box, I guess I’d kind of given up on it!

The fabric is heavier than I expected, and as a result the skirt is VERY a-lined. I might have it altered, I don’t know if I really like the bouffantiness, at least not for long term, even if it is kind of fashionable right now. It makes my hips feel enormous. Other than that though, it’s exactly as I imagined. The quality is much nicer than I expected from ASOS, too. Love.

I also found my little camera! It had fallen and bounced underneath my bed - d’oh! So pictures tomorrow, I PROMISE! xx

A Floral Affair

I have lost my little camera! Lost somewhere in my house, of course, not literally lost forever! I have been very lazy and haven’t really even looked for it. But it isn’t in my direct line of vision therefore it is lost. What ridiculous logic!

Ergo no photos of my outfits over the weekend. Or… any photos at all. Bummer, but I admit I didn’t put much effort in anyway!

My third replacement ASOS skirt still hasn’t arrived, and I’m actually feeling pretty apathetic about it at this point. My mother said today that she was feeling very angry over it, and that’s when I realised I’ve almost stopped caring. Luckily she will be in the UK in just over a week and so I will tell them to send a fourth replacement, with tracking, to her hotel, and maybe I will get the skirt I that I ordered in May… by the end of August!! Ahaha!

My second Etsy purchase arrived on Friday (the maroon dress)… it’s also a little big, I think I need to take these measurements with a grain of salt! However it’s nice and loose, I think it will be great in summer when it’s so hot you can’t move. And I was right - it does look very cute belted!

I was given a blogging award by the lovely Tea and Karen, thank you so much. I have decided not to “pass it on” because almost all of my favourite bloggers have received it or no doubt will soon by someone else. Thank you so much for liking my blog enough, I’m sorry I didn’t acknowledge it sooner!

On that note - I’m also sorry I don’t reply to everyone’s comments, I mean to, I have been so distracted lately by my course that when I realise I have a comment I’m usually in too much of a rush to address it and then of course I forget. I read every single one of them and thank you so much for reading my blog and sharing your thoughts!

Today I went to a local shopping centre with my Mother, where I bought on a whim a long sleeved dress with tiny pink flowers all over it from MYER. You might be thinking “oh typically due to the 90s trend of the moment” but my obsession with floral extends beyond the current 90’s trend. I have a great dress I bought back in 2006 which is black with a tiny red floral print all over it. I also bought a fantastic skirt in 2004 that was white with tiny pink, blue and purple flowers all over it. Although I stupidly donated it to charity about 6 months ago. I have to stop being so hasty with my donation descions, I almost always regret it.

Ah such is life. I plan on wearing the dress tomorrow… I should really actually LOOK for my camera, too.

6 Unimportant Things About Me

Tagged by the stylish Fashion Fake.

1. I only buy original CDs, I don’t own any burnt albums. I used to have many, but one day I had an epiphany and threw them all away. Now if I want to listen to music I will go out and buy the album. If I want to hear something first I will visit the artist’s MySpace or get a friend to send me a reccomendation. I don’t download albums in the traditional sense.

2. My favourite gemstone is garnet. There is something about that dark blood red that inspires me. If I ever get proposed to I would like a blood red garnet ring.

3. I love watching Girls of the Playboy Mansion and other vacuous reality shows like Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Dr.90210. It’s called reality but it’s really the farthest thing from it, which makes it entertaining. But I hate the reality game shows like Big Brother.

4. I cannot stand the smell of freshly baked bread. It makes me sick. But I love the smell of cold bread.

5. The last books I bought were about quantum mechanics. I don’t really understand much of it but it’s so fascinating, I picked the closest books I could find to “An Idiot’s Guide To:”. Unfortunately the latest issues of SHOP, Frankie and Vogue just arrived in my mailbox. Quantum mechanics will have to wait!
