Pleat To Meet You

♥ My pleated ASOS Skirt ♥

Yes as mentioned yesterday - it finally came! You can see how big it makes my hips look! Can you see the pleat detailing on the hem? It’s hard to see with my crappy photos! Oh well, I think I’ve decided not to have it altered. I’m so glad it came I have a million outfits planned for it. Expect to see it again and again and again!

?? Cardigan - Op Shop Lace Top - ASOS Skirt - Target Tights - RMK Shoes - Sportsgirl Earrings - Dinosaur Designs Bangle - Linor Watch

Tonight I met up with an old work friend for dinner which was lovely. I felt like the cardigan wasn’t suitable for this outfit because of it’s length, unfortunately I can’t find my short cardigan, I think I may have left it somewhere.

Before we met up I had to pick up a pair of shoes from Scooter which were being repaired. Last week I saw a fabulous pair of boots there which I didn’t want to try on because I couldn’t afford them, but today I decided I was going to lay-by them. Except that they had sold out of my size! She even tried another store but alas they were out too. I hardly ever go there, she said they were winter stock and wouldn’t be getting any more in!! I am absolutely heartbroken they were so fabulous! Flat, black, with three big buckles on them. Very biker chic. Very not mine.

Tomorrow is the last full day of my course! Can you believe it? It’s been two months! On Monday afternoon we hand in our business plans for reveiw and then have an advisory board on Thursday where we find out if we pass! Excitement!! On Monday and Tuesday during the day I am attending the Gift Fair to find some lovely suppliers for my business. So much to do over the next few weeks!

OH EM GEE

My ASOS skirt came today (!!!)

I absolutely flipped out when Mum called me to tell me she found the parcel shoved in the letter box, I guess I’d kind of given up on it!

The fabric is heavier than I expected, and as a result the skirt is VERY a-lined. I might have it altered, I don’t know if I really like the bouffantiness, at least not for long term, even if it is kind of fashionable right now. It makes my hips feel enormous. Other than that though, it’s exactly as I imagined. The quality is much nicer than I expected from ASOS, too. Love.

I also found my little camera! It had fallen and bounced underneath my bed - d’oh! So pictures tomorrow, I PROMISE! xx

A Floral Affair

I have lost my little camera! Lost somewhere in my house, of course, not literally lost forever! I have been very lazy and haven’t really even looked for it. But it isn’t in my direct line of vision therefore it is lost. What ridiculous logic!

Ergo no photos of my outfits over the weekend. Or… any photos at all. Bummer, but I admit I didn’t put much effort in anyway!

My third replacement ASOS skirt still hasn’t arrived, and I’m actually feeling pretty apathetic about it at this point. My mother said today that she was feeling very angry over it, and that’s when I realised I’ve almost stopped caring. Luckily she will be in the UK in just over a week and so I will tell them to send a fourth replacement, with tracking, to her hotel, and maybe I will get the skirt I that I ordered in May… by the end of August!! Ahaha!

My second Etsy purchase arrived on Friday (the maroon dress)… it’s also a little big, I think I need to take these measurements with a grain of salt! However it’s nice and loose, I think it will be great in summer when it’s so hot you can’t move. And I was right - it does look very cute belted!

I was given a blogging award by the lovely Tea and Karen, thank you so much. I have decided not to “pass it on” because almost all of my favourite bloggers have received it or no doubt will soon by someone else. Thank you so much for liking my blog enough, I’m sorry I didn’t acknowledge it sooner!

On that note - I’m also sorry I don’t reply to everyone’s comments, I mean to, I have been so distracted lately by my course that when I realise I have a comment I’m usually in too much of a rush to address it and then of course I forget. I read every single one of them and thank you so much for reading my blog and sharing your thoughts!

Today I went to a local shopping centre with my Mother, where I bought on a whim a long sleeved dress with tiny pink flowers all over it from MYER. You might be thinking “oh typically due to the 90s trend of the moment” but my obsession with floral extends beyond the current 90’s trend. I have a great dress I bought back in 2006 which is black with a tiny red floral print all over it. I also bought a fantastic skirt in 2004 that was white with tiny pink, blue and purple flowers all over it. Although I stupidly donated it to charity about 6 months ago. I have to stop being so hasty with my donation descions, I almost always regret it.

Ah such is life. I plan on wearing the dress tomorrow… I should really actually LOOK for my camera, too.

Edward Scissorhands - The Ballet

So I went with my favourite fashionista this evening to see Edward Scissorhands - The Ballet. Except it wasn’t a traditional ballet. I really enjoyed it!!

Cotton On Cardigan & Singlet - Yoanna Baraschki Lace Skirt - Target Tights - Wittner Shoes - Vintage Necklace

Hooray for finally pulling out my Yoanna Baraschki skirt! It’s so beautiful that I’m kind of scared of it. The necklace was my Great Aunt’s. It has three strands but I thought it was too much so I craftily removed the third strand and put it back on when I got home! I’ve worn the Wittner pumps obsessively these last few days - definitely got my $40 out of those lovelies! They’re just so comfortable.

My third ASOS skirt should arrive this week. If it doesn’t I am going to hit the roof. My black flutter skirt came from Etsy the other day. It’s a little big but I think it will be fine.

Saturday Night

Apologies again for the terrible photo quality, they were taken at about 2am so the lighting was less than ideal. Tonight we went to a club I’d never been to before - I hate clubs normally I’m definately more of a bar or pub type of girl. I checked out the club’s website last night and was distressed to see dozens of photos of buxom barbie-blondes with unnatural tans and tiny clothes. (Not that there’s anything explicitly wrong with that but it’s totally not my style). What was I going to wear?!

Agent 99 TShirt - Op Shop Skirt - Target Tights - Wittner Shoes - Vintage Bag

I sauntered down to my favourite op shop this afternoon and ended up buying two skirts - a lace black pencil skirt and the one I ultimately ended up wearing. I fell in instant-love with both of them, but when I got home I felt like I may have been hasty with the lace pencil skirt because it doesn’t fit me as well as I remembered in the fitting room. But I’m so happy with the floral skirt purchase! It’s a wrap skirt, two layers of chiffonesque fabric that kind of flips out at the bottom, it’s really flattering, even more so when I don’t have an oversized t-shirt bulging out underneath! I go to that op shop so often and find nothing so I was pleased I found this at the last minute.

Needless to say it certainly was more conservative an outfit than the majority at this particular club, but I felt comfortable. I also think the skirt will be great in summer. I also bought these two items off Etsy in the last few days:

Black Flutter Skirt
This skirt is so pretty I love how the seller has really casualised it with the white t-shirt.

Maroon Tank Dress
I don’t expect this to fit very well the way it is designed but it should look great cinched with a belt!

Oh, did I mention I got a haircut? We removed about 3 inches of damaged hair, which I feel happy about although I miss the length greatly. No more constant blowdrying anymore!! Also, I’ve changed my links to specify which of my favourite blogs are run by voguettes! Hullo my lovely voguettes!

The Dark Knight

Forever New Leather Jacket - American Apparel Sweater - Cotton On Tank - Jeans West Velour Pants - Wittner Heels

Last night we went to see The Dark Knight. Boyfriend bought eight tickets about a month ago so needless to say the movie was much anticipated! Fantastic movie. Unfortunately I smooshed melted choc-top on my beautiful leather jacket. I think it cleaned up okay though!

Ombre, Baby

Cotton On Cardigan - Target Dress & Tights - FAT Belt - Wittner Shoes - Indigo Necklace & Watch

The quality of my photos is on the decline! This one is straight from the fitting rooms in MYER. The last time I wore this combination I felt really good so I decided to wear again with different accessories. I love love love these shoes - I have them in tan too, but I picked the black ones up today on sale for $40 down from $130. They’re such beautiful soft leather. Delicious!

I have decided I need two new pairs of shoes. A really sexy pair of heeled sandals, and a pair of bright/colourful shoes. I only own two pairs of “coloured” shoes, one is a tealy pair from Wittner with a sharp pointed toe and kitten heel. The other are a cheap red pair from Novo also with a pointed toe and tacky (in a good way) gold hardwear. I fell in love with both pairs as soon as I saw them, but it’s the pointed toe which has stopped me from them both. I have such big feet already, who do I think I am stomping around in pointed toe shoes?! So unflattering!

I visited my regular favourite shoe stores today hoping to find something which fit either criteria but found nothing. I’m even on eBay right now but I can never find anything I like on eBay, I don’t know how other people always manage to snag bargains. Where do you shop for unusual shoes?

The Sundays

How I love Sundays. What better day is there than Sunday? Maybe Tuesday, because it’s the day furthest away from the next Monday. But after Tuesday, Sunday is pretty good… except that the next day is Monday, which is pretty bad.

I guess I don’t like Sunday much.

Dotti Blazer - Op Shop Dress - Target Tights - Vintage Boots

Apologies for the terrible photographs. I’ve been dying to wear this dress… it’s the 90’s deadstock one with the cute little forget-me-not flowers all over it. Going out for a drink with the girls from work.

Good Luck, Bad Luck

Nothing today was getting me out of bed at 7am, even though I had class at 9am. The alarm went off, and I somehow managed to get through almost 20mins of the ridiculously annoying Matt and Jo show before I got so angry I turned the alarm off and went back to sleep.

I pushed myself out of bed at 9.30am and had a microshower. When I got out I heard my phone beep and when I checked the message it was a fellow classmate informing me that class had been cancelled for the day! What good luck for me!

Since I’ve been very clever and have been working consistantly on my assignment that is half due on Friday, I don’t have any work I need to do today so I am taking myself shopping. Can I afford it? No. Do I care? No.

In online shopping news, the bad luck continues with Topshop and ASOS. Can you believe this? ASOS posted out another skirt on the 26/06 and it still hasn’t arrived yet. I don’t think I’m ever going to get it!! As for Topshop, they received the clothes I sent back but only confirmed refunds for two of the three items?! What?? They want me to scan my proof of postage for them, I don’t know why, it’s obvious they got my parcel! I better get a refund for that third item!!

Dotti Blazer - Etsy Dress - Forever New Tights - Dorothy Perkins Flats - Sportsgirl Earrings & Ring - Mimco Brooch

Sometime later…
Very obsessed with my Dotti Blazer… it just works back with so much! I picked up a gorgeous vintage inspired polka dot blouse at K-Mart of all places for $20 and a nice longline sleeveless cardi from Cotton On for $20. Bargain. I also got the latest issue of RUSSH. ♥

Experiments In Red

It’s no secret to anyone who reads my blog that my favourite colours are black, red and grey. I love moody shades that contrast my pale skin. You’d think red lipstick would be right up my alley but in the past I’ve felt clownish wearing it.

Eager to try again I decided to get an experts advice on the right shade for me. After an unsuccessful visit to the Chanel counter at David Jones I ended up finding my own lipstick shade at the Natio display. After sampling a dozen colours I chose a dark red and felt very pleased with my purchase.

Today I am (finally) trialing my new lipstick. My mother, sister and I are off to see WICKED the musical tonight! I am so excited. If nothing else the lipstick matches my coat!
